DENVER COLORADO AND ITS HISTORY

Denver CO, originally known as the Denver City Town Company was founded on November 22, 1858 as part of the Kansas Territory by William H. Larimer from Leavenworth, Kansas.  In 1860 Denver real estate neighbor Auraria merged with the Denver City Town Company to become known as Denver.  The Colorado Territory was established in 1861 and Colorado became a state in 1876.  Denver, Colorado is the state capitol of Colorado.  During the 1860’s Golden, Colorado was the Territorial Capitol under the Territorial Governor John Evans, for which Mount Evans and Evans Avenue in Denver are named.

Denver weather is known for its 300 plus days of sunshine per year.  They say if you don’t like the Denver weather, wait 15 minutes and it is bound to change.  Denver weather consists of 4 distinct and traditional seasons including Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.  Colorado weather varies, depending on what part of the state you are in, however the climate is fairly dry, with low humidity.  

Local ABC television affiliate KMGH Channel 7 news is a great online resource for Denver weather and is known as the Colorado Weather Channel.

Alamo Placita Park is located between East Third Avenue and Speer Boulevard at Emerson Street and is at the center of this Central Denver neighborhood.  Alamo Placita is made up of homes with traditional Denver real estate architecture. The Denver schools that serve this neighborhood are Moore K-8, Morey Middle and East High School. Denver homes for sale in this area

Arlington Park is a Denver real estate neighborhood bordered by Sixth Avenue on the north, Speer Boulevard on the south, Pennsylvania Street on the west and Downing on the east.  Alamo Placita Park is actually located within the Arlington Park neighborhood, in the South East Denver mls area.  Moore K-8, Morey Middle and East High are the Denver schools for students in this neighborhood.

Athmar Park is a southwest Denver real estate neighborhood centered around the Athmar Park shopping center which is located on West Mississippi and South Tejon Street.  Athmar Park is located just north of the Ruby Hill neighborhood. The Denver schools for this community are Goldrick Elementary, Rishel Middle and Abraham Lincoln High School.

Auraria.  This gold rush settlement was founded in 1858 and merged with Denver in 1860.  Located on prime Denver real estate, the Auraria Higher Education Center was opened in 1977 and is home to the University of Colorado at Denver; Metropolitan State College and the Denver Community College.  The Pepsi Center and Elitch Gardens Amusement Park are located in this neighborhood.

Baker is located directly west of South Broadway between West Mississippi Avenue on the south and West 6th Avenue on the north and the Platte River on the west.  This area is home to many Victorian and Queen Anne examples of historic Denver real estate. Several Denver schools serving this neighborhood are Fairmount Elementary, Grant Middle and West High School.

Ballpark is a relatively new term for an old Denver real estate neighborhood, located around Coors Field ballpark, home of the Colorado Rockies Major League Baseball team.  There are many Denver lofts converted from old warehouses to brand new construction of luxury LoDo lofts.  Gilpin Elementary, Bruce Randolph Middle and Manual Senior High are several Denver schools in this area.

Barnum The Barnum neighborhood is named after P. T. Barnum of the Barnum and Bailey Circus who purchased 760 acres of this area in 1882.  This Denver real estate neighborhood consists of mostly wood framed ranch style homes with a limited number of Denver condos and townhomes.  The Barnum neighborhood is located between West 6th Avenue to Alameda Avenue and from Federal Boulevard to Sheridan Boulevard.   Students in the Barnum neighborhood attend the Newlon, Eagleton, Barnum, Rishel, Kepner and West High Denver schools.

Bear Valley is a South West Denver mls neighborhood located just south of Harvey Park, bordered by Yale Avenue on the north, Hampden Avenue on the south, Federal Boulevard on the east and Wadsworth on the west.  Typical Denver real estate architecture for this neighborhood is brick ranch style homes, with some two story and tri-level properties.  One of the Denver schools in this neighborhood is John F. Kennedy High School.  Other neighborhood schools are Doull, Sabin, Gust, Traylor Academy and Henry Middle School. 

Belcaro.  This historic Denver real estate neighborhood is bordered by Exposition Avenue, Colorado Boulevard, Tennessee Avenue and Steele Street.  The historic Phipps Mansion is located in this neighborhood, which was built in 1932 for Lawrence Phipps, U.S. Senator and Treasurer for Carnegie Steel.  The mansion was donated to the University of Denver in 1964 and now serves as a museum and conference center.  Three Denver schools serving this community are Cory Elementary, Merrill Junior High and South High School.

Belmont Heights is a southeast Denver real estate neighborhood that was developed by Hutchinson Homes.  Belmont Heights is located just south of Hampden Avenue and bordered by Holly Street on the east and diagonally on the southwest by Happy Canyon Road.  It consists exclusively of ranch style homes and has no condos or townhomes.  It is close to shopping at the Happy Canyon Safeway center and you can walk to the Southmoor light rail station.  Thomas Jefferson High School is located in this neighborhood.  This South East Denver mls neighborhood is supported by Southmoor Elementary and Hamilton Middle are the other Denver schools for this area.

Berkeley is a northwest Denver real estate enclave located just south of Berkeley Lake Park at I-70 and Sheridan.  Berkeley extends south from I-70 to 38th Avenue and is bordered on the west by Sheridan Boulevard and the east by Lowell Boulevard.  Centennial K-8, Beach Court, Remington, Horace Mann Middle, Skinner Middle and North High are the Denver schools for this neighborhood.  The northwest corner of Berkeley Lake Park is an off leash dog park, one of seven in the Denver Parks system.

Bible Park is a southeast Denver neighborhood located at East Yale Avenue and South Tamarac Drive.  The Denver real estate style for this neighborhood is primarily brick ranch style homes built by Hutchinson Homes.  The Highline Canal runs through Bible Park and provides jogging, walking and bicycle enthusiasts a great recreational escape. Several Denver schools that serve this neighborhood are Holm, Bradley, Hamilton Middle and Thomas Jefferson High School.

Bonnie Brae.  This Denver neighborhood offers a prime example of Denver real estate architecture from English Tudor and Cape Cod to Contemporary Art Modern.  Two long time Denver restaurants The Bonnie Brae Tavern and The Saucy Noodle are at the center of this Denver mls neighborhood, which is bordered by University Boulevard on the west, Exposition Avenue on the north, Steele Street on the east and Mississippi on the south.   Cory Elementary, Merrill Junior High and South High are Denver schools that service this community.

Burns Brentwood.  Franklin Burns took over the D.C. Burns Realty and Trust company and began developing the Burns Brentwood subdivision in southwest Denver in 1946.  This Denver real estate neighborhood is bordered by Federal Boulevard on the east, Florida Avenue on the north, South Tennyson Street on the west and West Yale Avenue on the south.  Denver schools for this neighborhood are Doull, Johnson, Kunsmiller and Abraham Lincoln High School.

Capitol Hill is home to the Colorado State Capitol Building with its landmark gold dome.  This charming urban Denver neighborhood is bordered by Broadway, Colfax, Sixth Avenue and Downing.  Capitol Hill consists of high density Denver real estate with many old mansions, apartment buildings and apartment conversion properties.  Moore K-8, Morey Junior High and East Senior High are Denver Schools in this community.

Central Business District This part of downtown is centered around the 16th Street pedestrian mall and Seventeenth Street known as the Wall Street of the West.  Denver’s tallest buildings are located here, with three of them exceeding 52 stories.  The Colorado Convention Center is located at 15th and California Street. 

Chaffee Park is a North Denver mls neighborhood that provides close in affordable Denver real estate options.  It consists of many Cape Cod style homes, along with frame bungalows and ranch style homes.  It is bordered by I-70 on the south, Pecos Street on the east, Federal Boulevard on the west and 52nd Avenue on the north. Some of the Denver schools for this neighborhood are Beach Court Elementary, Horace Mann Middle and North High School.

Cheesman Park This park originally began as a cemetery in 1859.  It started its transformation into a park in 1870.  The Denver real estate neighborhood that surrounds Cheesman Park consists of many old mansions and three historic enclaves known as Humboldt Island, Morgan’s Historic District and Wyman’s Historic District.  This area is bordered by 7th Avenue on the south, Colfax on the north, Downing Street on the west and York Street on the east.  Moore Elementary is one of the Denver schools in this area, along with Morey and East.

Cherry Creek This Denver real estate neighborhood lies on the north bank of Cherry Creek and consists of luxury real estate intertwined with upscale shopping, restaurants, art galleries and pubs.  Bordered by University Boulevard, East 6th Avenue, Colorado Boulevard and East Alameda Avenue, this Denver neighborhood has everything you need all within a few short blocks.  Every summer Cherry Creek is host to the Cherry Creek Arts Festival.  Steck Elementary and Hill Junior High are Denver schools serving this neighborhood as well as George Washington High School.

Cherry Hills Vista is a charming south central Denver real estate neighborhood located just south of the University of Denver campus.  It is bordered by Yale Avenue on the north to Dartmouth Avenue on the south, Franklin Street on the west and University Boulevard on the east.  Slavens K-8, which serves this neighborhood is one of the most sought after Denver schools and Merrill Middle and Thomas Jefferson High also provide public education for this community.

Cherry Point is a small enclave adjacent to Cherry Hills Village nestled in between Happy Canyon Road, Dahlia Street, Hampden and Mansfield Ave.  This Denver real estate neighborhood is adjacent to Belmont Heights and is served by the following Denver schools, Southmoor, Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson High.

City Park South is bordered by 17th Avenue on the north, Colfax Avenue on the south, Josephine on the west and Colorado Boulevard on the east.  East High School is one of the oldest Denver schools and Teller Elementary and Morey Junior High also serve this community.

City Park West is located just west of Denver’s City Park and bordered by York Street on the east, Downing Street on the west, 18th Avenue on the South and 26th Avenue on the north.  City Park is home to the Denver Zoo, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, the IMAX Theatre, the Gates Planetarium and City Park Golf Course.  Wyman, Morey and East are Denver schools for this area.

Civic Center Park is the Denver real estate neighborhood bordered by Colfax on the north, Grant Street on the east, Thirteenth Avenue on the south and Speer Boulevard on the west.  It is home to the City and County of Denver Courthouse, the Wellington Webb Municipal building, the Denver Public Library, the Colorado History Museum, the Colorado Supreme Court, the Denver Art Museum, the Denver Mint, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial and the Greek Amphitheater. 

Clayton.  Located just east of the Cole neighborhood is bordered by Martin Luther King Boulevard (32nd Avenue) on the south, York Street on the west, Colorado Boulevard on the east and 40th Avenue on the north.  It offers residents Nairobi Park, Schafer Park and the Denver Fire Station at 32nd and Steele.  Several Denver schools serving this community are Barrett Elementary, Columbine Middle and Manual High School.

Clements.  This historic Denver real estate neighborhood located within the Curtis Park neighborhood, although very small has a significant past.  It is located just east of the downtown Denver financial district and is bordered by 20th Street, Tremont Street, Glenarm Place and 22nd Street.  It is home to the Zion Baptist Church a historical landmark established by former slaves in 1865.  This area is rapidly redeveloping with Denver lofts and mixed use developments and is serviced by the light rail RTD system’s Welton line.  Whittier K-7, Wyman, Morey and East High are the Denver schools providing public education for this community.

Cole This Denver real estate neighborhood and Cole Junior High was named after Carlos Cole a superintendent of Denver Schools.  It is bordered by Martin Luther King Boulevard (32nd Avenue) on the south, 40th Avenue on the north, Downing Street on the west and York Street on the east.  This area is also home to the Wyatt School.   Public Denver schools for this area are Harrington Elementary, Bruce Randolph Middle and Manual High School.

College View and the South Platte neighborhood is bordered on the east by the South Platte River, Federal Boulevard on the west and Evans Avenue on the north.  Denver real estate in this neighborhood ranges from residential, including single family homes, condos, townhomes and apartments to light and heavy industrial property, including one of the largest power plants in the Denver metro area.  College View Elementary, Henry Middle and Abraham Lincoln High are Denver schools in this community.

Commons Park and the South Platte Valley This booming Denver real estate neighborhood lies just north of LoDo and Union Station.  It is bordered on the southwest, west and northwest by Interstate 25 and hosts the new Millennium Pedestrian Bridge connecting the downtown Denver 16th Street Pedestrian Mall to Northwest Denver and LoHi.  Its residential component consists mostly of Denver lofts and condo developments as well as mixed use retail centered around Commons Park. 

Congress Park is the East Denver mls neighborhood bordered by Sixth Avenue on the south to Colfax on the north, York Street on the west and Colorado Boulevard on the east.  At 9th Avenue and Elizabeth Street you will find the lovely Congress Park.  You will find a variety of Denver real estate architecture ranging from single family homes, condos and townhomes.  Also located in this neighborhood is the 7th Avenue Historic District Parkway featuring a center greenbelt with jogging path and historic Denver homes and mansions.  Public Denver schools serving this neighborhood are Teller, Morey and East.

Cory Merrill is the south Denver real estate neighborhood that surrounds the Merrill Middle School a Denver School that services this and several surrounding neighborhoods.   It lies just south of Belcaro and east of South Bonnie Brae and is bordered by I-25 on the south, University Boulevard on the west, Tennessee on the north and Colorado Boulevard on the east. Corey Elementary, Merrill Junior High and South High are Denver schools found in this neighborhood.

Country Club The Country Club Historic District has some of the finest examples of Denver real estate architecture in Colorado.  Located just north of the Denver Country Club and bordered by First Avenue on the south, Downing Street on the West, Sixth Avenue on the north and York Street on the east.  Within this Denver neighborhood are two very prestigious enclaves known as Country Club Place and Circle Drive, which is home to one residence reminiscent of a castle.  Denver schools for this neighborhood are Moore K-8, Morey and East.

Crestmoor is an east Denver real estate neighborhood located between Hilltop and Lowry.  Crestmoor’s boundaries are Alameda Avenue on the south, Sixth Avenue on the north, Holly Street on the west and Monaco Parkway on the east.  Crestmoor Park is located at Monaco Parkway and First Avenue. Public Denver schools include Carson Elementary, Hill Junior High and George Washington High for this east Denver community.

Curtis Park is the Denver real estate neighborhood that lies between the downtown Denver central business district and Five Points.  It was first developed in the 1860s and 1870s and includes the Glenarm Place, San Rafael and Clements historic districts.  This area is serviced by RTD Lightrail mass transit system and is rapidly becoming a Transit Oriented Development (TOD).  Curtis Park is home to the Gilpin Elementary, Bruce Randolph Middle and Manual Senior High Denver schools.

Denver International Airport or DIA is the area around Denver’s primary airport, located just north of Green Valley Ranch.

Denver Tech Center or DTC is the Denver real estate neighborhood located at the intersection of Interstate 225 and Interstate 25 and extending southward.  It is bordered on the west by Cherry Hills Village and on the east by Cherry Creek Reservoir State Park.  DTC is primarily a commercial office district, however it has enclaves including high end single family Denver homes, condos, townhomes and now with the addition of RTD light rail, many Denver lofts and transit oriented design mixed use developments.  There is also an abundant supply of shopping and restaurants in this district.  Public education in this community is shared between Denver schools and Cherry Creek School District.

Downtown Denver is also known as the Central Business District.  Denver real estate found here consists of high rise office and condo buildings.  Many old buildings such as the Denver Dry Goods Building have been converted to Denver lofts.  There are many large and historic hotels such as the Brown Palace and many restaurants to support the many people that live, work and visit Downtown Denver.  The Denver Convention Center, Denver Center for Performing Arts and 16th Street Mall are located here.

DU – University of Denver.  This South East Denver mls neighborhood is centered around the DU campus and bordered by Downing Street on the west, Yale Avenue on the south, University Boulevard on the east and Interstate 25 on the north.  Beginning in September of 2006 this campus neighborhood is now serviced by RTD light rail and several transit oriented design developments have popped up offering condos and Denver lofts.  Most of the Denver real estate architecture found here are single family homes built in the early 1900s including many frame and brick bungalows and English Tudors with a few Victorian homes sprinkled throughout.  Asbury, Grant and South are three of the Denver schools servicing this neighborhood.

East Colfax is the East Denver real estate neighborhood that is located north of Lowry and south of Stapleton.  This area is rapidly redeveloping with the closure of Lowry
Air Base and Stapleton Airport and the growth of the Fitzsimmons Medical Campus located just to the east of this Denver neighborhood.  Colfax Avenue is known as the longest Main Street in America, which spans from Bennett, Colorado on the east to Golden, Colorado on the west and runs through the heart of Downtown Denver past the Colorado State Capitol.  Three Denver schools teaching kids in this area are Ashley Elementary, Hill Middle and George Washington High School.

Elyria Swansea is a residential and industrial Denver real estate neighborhood located north of 40th Avenue, east of Brighton Boulevard (Highway 85), west of Colorado Boulevard and stretching to the Adams County Line.  Interstate 70 splits the neighborhood in half which is home to the Denver Coliseum, the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo complex, many factories, industrial facilities and rail yards.  There are very moderately priced Denver homes for sale in this neighborhood but relatively few condos and townhomes.  Denver schools providing education in this neighborhood are Swansea, Bruce Randolph and Manual.

Five Points is the Denver real estate neighborhood that derived its name from the intersection of Welton Street, Washington Street, 27th Street and 26th Avenue, which creates a five point intersection because Washington Street continues on through this intersection.  Curtis Park and the newer Ballpark neighborhoods are actually located within this larger Five Points neighborhood.   Manual High School is one of the Denver schools in this neighborhood.

Gateway Village is a newer Denver real estate development that came in to existence with the opening of Denver International Airport.  Most of the development here consists of hotels, parking lots, commercial office buildings and restaurants.  Interconnected with Gateway is Green Valley Ranch, a neighborhood offering residential housing, including Denver homes and condos, as well as shopping and golf.  Eventually, the Gateway neighborhood will be accessed by RTD Lightrail Fastracks East Corridor line and will have new Transit Oriented Development projects most likely including Denver loft homes, condos and townhomes.  Denver schools found in this neighborhood are Greenwood K-8, Rachel B. Noel and Montbello Senior High.

Glendale although surrounded by Denver real estate on all sides is actually its own municipality located in Arapahoe County.  This city is slightly larger than half a square mile and is 99 percent multi family residences, including high density apartment buildings, condos and townhomes.  There are only a handful of Denver homes located in this small city.  Also, there are many office buildings and one large shopping center anchored by Target located within its boundaries.  Cherry Creek with its bike path run through the city and connect it to the Cherry Creek neighborhood directly to the west.
 
Globeville is the North Denver mls neighborhood centered around Interstate 25 and Interstate 25.  It is bordered by Pecos Street on the west, the South Platte River on the east and the Adams County line on the north.  It consists of very modest single family Denver homes and mixed use industrial properties and rail yards.

Golden Triangle is the Denver real estate neighborhood bordered by Lincoln Street on the east, Speer Boulevard on the west and 13th Avenue on the north.   Many new Denver lofts and condominium projects have been built in this district attracting new restaurants and retail shops.  This neighborhood is just south of Downtown and has direct access to the Cherry Creek bike path along Speer Boulevard.

Goldsmith is bordered by Evans Avenue on the north, Yale Avenue on the south, Quebec Street on the east and I-25 on the west.  Holly Hills is also located within this area, however it is actually part of Arapahoe County and not Denver County.  Goldsmith consists of a mix of Denver real estate including single family Denver homes, condos, townhomes and apartment complexes. 

Governors Park is the Denver real estate neighborhood surrounding the Colorado Governor’s Mansion located at Logan Street and 8th Avenue and the adjacent park.  Many historic mansions and upscale single family Denver homes are located here, including Doctor’s Row and the Quality Hill Historic District.  There are also many high rise condos, as well as apartments and townhomes. Moore K-8, Morey Junior High and East High are three Denver schools serving this community.

Grand View.  Rocky Mountain Lake Park is the focal point of this northwest Denver real estate neighborhood.  The three Denver schools in this community are Centennial K-8, Skinner Middle and North High School, home of the Vikings.

Green Valley Ranch is located east of Montbello, a North East Denver MLS area, north of Interstate 70 and south of Denver International Airport.  This master planned community offers a variety of Denver real estate options including single family homes, condominiums and townhomes built by a variety of Denver home builders.  Public Denver schools found in this neighborhood are Green Valley Elementary, Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle and Montbello High School.
 
Hale Mayfair is the Denver neighborhood that has been home to the former University of Colorado Medical Center, University Hospital and Rose Medical Center.  It is bordered by Sixth Avenue on the south, Colfax Avenue on the north, Colorado Boulevard on the west and Holly on the east.  This community is located in the South East Denver MLS area.  Public education institutions provided by Denver schools are Palmer Elementary, Hill Middle and George Washington High.

Hampden Heights is located in the South East Denver mls area bordered by Yale Avenue on the north, Hampden Avenue on the south, Havana Street on the east and Tamarac Drive on the west.  Tamarac Square Shopping Mall is located at the intersection of Hampden and Tamarac, offering residents a large selection of retail shops, restaurants including Rodney’s and coffee shops.  Hampden Heights is served by Holm, Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson Denver schools.

Hampden South is the Denver real estate neighborhood just south of Hampden Heights, bordered by Hampden Avenue on the north, Yosemite on the east, Interstate 25 on the west and The Denver Tech Center on the south.  A major amenity in this neighborhood is the shops at Tiffany Plaza, including a Whole Foods Grocery and many restaurants such as the Fresh Fish Company.

Harvard Park is located in the South East Denver MLS area adjacent to Porter Hospital, bordered by Harvard Drive on the South, Evans Avenue on the north, Downing on the east and Broadway on the west.  At the center is Harvard Park, with a 9 hole public golf course.   Asbury, Grant and South High are Denver schools for kids in this neighborhood.

Harvey Park is located in the South West Denver MLS area and is bordered by Jewell Avenue on the north, Yale Avenue on the south, Sheridan Boulevard on the west and Federal Boulevard on the east.  Harvey Park is located at Evans and Tennyson, just east of a private lake surrounded by less than 20 Denver lakefront homes where homeowners enjoy boating and water skiing.  Abraham Lincoln Senior High is one of the Denver schools located in this community.  Other Denver schools for this neighborhood are Doull Elementary and Kunsmiller Middle School.

Highlands is the North West Denver real estate neighborhood bordered by Interstate 25 on the east, Colfax Avenue on the South, Sheridan Boulevard on the west and 38th Avenue on the north.  Several Denver schools are located in this community including North High School.  Several sub neighborhoods exist in the Highlands, known as Potter Highlands, Highlands Square, Sloan’s Lake and the newly appointed LoHi more formally known as Lower Highlands which features hip eateries such as Lola’s and has walking access to LoDo via the Millennium Bridge.  School age children in Highalnds can attend Bryant-Webster K-8 and Horace Mann Middle School.
 
Highlands Square is located within the greater Highlands neighborhood in the North West Denver MLS area.  The shops and restaurants of Highlands Square run from 32nd Avenue and Speer Boulevard on the east to Perry Street on the west.  The original Heidi’s Deli is located at the corner of 32nd Avenue and Lowell Boulevard.  This neighborhood is home to some of the hottest Colorado real estate in the Denver metro area. Public Denver schools for this neighborhood are Edison Elementary, Skinner Middle and North High School.

Hilltop is a prestigious South East Denver MLS area bordered by Colorado Boulevard on the west, Holly Street on the east, Alameda Avenue on the south and 6th Avenue on the north.  At the center of Hilltop is Cramner Park.  One popular Denver real estate trend in this area is adding on to existing ranch style Denver homes by popping the top or scraping off the old house altogether and replacing it with high end 2 story luxury homes built by custom Denver home builders.  Hilltop offers the following choices of Denver schools including Carson Elementary, Hill Middle and George Washington High.

Holly Hills is located in the South East Denver MLS area, however, most of the neighborhood actually lies in Arapahoe County.  It is bordered by Interstate 25 on the west, Monaco Boulevard on the east, Evans Avenue on the north and Hampden Avenue on the south.  Holly Hills Elementary is one of the Denver schools located in this area and is part of the Cherry Creek School District.  

Humboldt Island is a very small collection of luxurious older single family Denver homes and Mansions, bordering the west side of Cheesman Park starting at 8th Avenue and running north to 13th Avenue.

Indian Creek is located in the South East Denver MLS area and consists primarily of Denver condos and townhomes.  The Highline Canal and jogging path border this area on the east as well as Quebec Street on the west, Iliff Avenue on the south and Mississippi Avenue on the north.  Children of residents in this neighborhood can attend McMeen Elementary, Place Middle and George Washington, all public Denver schools.

Kennedy.  This Denver real estate neighborhood is bordered by Yosemite on the west, Dartmouth on the north, Parker Road on the east and Interstate 225 on the South.  At the center of this neighborhood is John F. Kennedy Golf course and two RTD Lightrail stops with new Transportation Oriented Development offering Denver lofts and retail development. 

Larimer Square is located in the heart of the Down Town Denver MLS district and is a historic single block with a collection of buildings with unique Denver real estate architecture.  Larimer Square offers upscale retail, restaurants and bars on the street level, with luxurious residential Denver lofts on the upper floors, along with a mix of office space.  Every year, this block hosts Denver’s Octoberfest Celebration and every holiday season Tuba musicians gather here for a Tuba Christmas Concert.  Denver schools providing public school education in this downtown neighborhood are Greenlee K-8, Horace Mann Middle School and West High.

Lincoln Park is located in the South West Denver MLS area and has street boundaries of 6th Avenue on the south, Colfax Avenue on the north, Speer Boulevard on the east and the South Platte River on the west.  Much of this area is very industrial, however the eastern third is home to the Denver Health Medical Center as well as the Santa Fe Arts District.  This neighborhood is also serviced by RTD Lightrail and The Buckhorn Exchange Steakhouse is the oldest restaurant in Denver and  is located at the 10th and Osage stop.  You will find Denver schools in this area including Greenlee K-8, Horace Mann and West Senior High School.

LoDo, otherwise known as Lower Downtown is located in the Down Town Denver  neighborhood and is known for its Denver lofts, abundant restaurants, numerous coffee shops, art galleries, night clubs and boutiques.  This neighborhood is bordered by the Platte River, Speer Boulevard, 23rd Street and Lawrence Street and is home to Coors Field and the Colorado Rockies Major League Baseball Organization, as well as Union Station Train Depot and the Oxford Hotel at 17th and Wazee Streets.  Denver schools also serving LoDo are Greenlee, Horace Mann and West High.
LoHi is the new hip term for the Denver real estate neighborhood known as Lower Highlands which is bordered by Interstate 25 on the south and east, 32nd Avenue on the north and Zuni Street on the west.  LoHi is connected to LoDo via the Millennium Bridge and 16th Street Pedestrian Mall through the Riverfront development of Denver lofts and restaurants.  Lola’s is a local gathering spot and Z Cuisine French Restaurant are examples of the great dining options in this neighborhood overlooking the Downtown Denver skyline.  School age students in this community attend Denver schools including Valdez Elementary, Skinner Middle and North High School.
Lowry is a transitioning Denver real estate neighborhood that used to be an Air Force base.  Located just east of Crestmoor in the South East Denver MLS area, this community is bordered by Alameda Avenue on the south, Colfax Avenue on the north, Quebec on the west and Havana Street on the east.  Lowry students attend the Lowry, Hill and George Washington Denver schools.
Mar Lee is located in the South West Denver mls area and has street boundaries of Sheridan Boulevard on the west, Federal Boulevard on the east, Mississippi Avenue on the north and Jewell Avenue on the south.   The Mar Lee Shopping Center and Post Office is located at the intersection of Tennyson and Florida.  Public schools for this area are Force, Johnson, Kunsmiller, Kennedy and Abraham Lincoln.

Marston Shores is the Denver real estate community located in the most southwestern corner of the City and County of Denver.  At the center of this neighborhood is Marston Reservoir.  Grant Ranch K-8 and John F. Kennedy High are Denver schools in this area.

Montclair is a South East Denver real estate area just east of the Hale Mayfair neighborhoods.  The geographic borders are 6th Avenue Parkway on the south, Colfax Avenue on the north, Holly Street on the west and Quebec Street on the east.  Students in this neighborhood can attend Ashley Elementary, Hill Middle and George Washington High Denver schools.

Morgans Historic District is located in the MLS Denver South East section and is part of the Cheesman Park neighborhood.  This Denver real estate neighborhood sits on the east side of Cheesman Park, just south of the Denver Botanical Gardens, north of 8th Avenue and bordred by Josephine on the east.

Observatory Park is a South East Denver mls neighborhood that is bordered by Evans Avenue on the north, Yale Avenue on the south, University Boulevard on the west and Steele Street on the east.  At the center is the park with an actual space observatory building open on certain dates to the public.  Denver schools that serve this community are University Park, Merrill Junior and South Senior High.

Overland Park is a Denver real estate neighborhood located in the South West Denver mls area bordered by Broadway on the east, Florida Avenue on the north, Yale Avenue on the south and the South Platte River on the west.  McKinley-Thatcher, Grant Middle and South High are Denver schools that children can attend in this neighborhood.

Quality Hill Historic District is a small South East Denver real estate neighborhood that consists of only a few blocks centered around the 900 block of Pearl Street which is known as Doctor’s Row.  There are many historic luxury Denver homes and mansions in this district.

Regis is located in the North West Denver mls district and is the home of Regis University.  This neighborhood is bordered by Harlan Street on the west, 52nd Avenue on the north, Federal Boulevard on the east and Interstate 70 on the south.  The Willis Case Municipal Golf Course is located at 50th and Tennyson.  Public Denver schools providing education in this neighborhood are Beach Court Elementary, Horace Mann Middle and North High School.

Riverfront is a rapidly redeveloping neighborhood in the Down Town Denver MLS area bordered on the south east by LoDo and Union Station, the south west by the Auraria Campus, the north west by by Interstate 25 and the north east by Five Points and Globeville.  Riverfront has many attractions including Confluence Park which is where Cherry Creek merges with the South Platte River, the new Commons Park along the riverbank, Elitch Gardens Amusement Park, Pepsi Center, the Children’s Museum, the Downtown Aquarium and trendy restaurants and retail shops.  There are many new Denver lofts being built in this neighborhood by East West Partners.

Ruby Hill is a South West Denver real estate neighborhood bordered by Mississippi Avenue on the north, Jewell Avenue on the south, Federal on the west and the South Platte River on the east.  Denver schools for this neighborhood consist of Schmitt, Grant and Abraham Lincoln.

Santa Fe Arts District is a small enclave in the Lincoln Park neighborhood and is located in the MLS Denver South West area.  About seven blocks of Santa Fe Drive make up this district and its a hot spot for artists, galleries such as John Fielder’s, small theaters and restaurants such as Museo de las Americas.  Every month the neighborhood hosts a First Friday event, where galleries hold open houses until 9 p.m.

Seventh Avenue Historic District is a small neighborhood in the South East Denver mls area centered around the East 7th Avenue Parkway.  The divided street with greenbelt down the middle, runs east from Washington Street to Colorado Boulevard.

Southern Hills is the south Denver real estate neighborhood adjacent to the Wellshire neighborhood, which is home to Slaven’s Elementary, one of the highest rated Denver schools.  Bordered by Steel Street on the east, University Boulevard on the west, Hampden Avenue on the south and Dartmouth Avenue on the north.  This neighborhood actually lies in Arapahoe County.

Arvada Colorado This northwest Denver suburb is located in Jefferson County just north of Wheat Ridge on the northwest border of Denver CO.  At one time Arvada was known as the Celery Capitol of the World which was a product of the many farms in the area.  Arvada offers a wide variety of Denver real estate property types including single family homes and houses as well as condos, townhomes and lofts.  Arvada loft real estate is fairly new because of the new Fastracks light rail line coming to Olde Town Arvada.  When searching the Arvada mls you will find many property listings for entry level houses, townhomes, horse properties and condos.  You will also find information on education in our Denver schools section.  Many Denver relocation buyers choose Arvada because of the variety of home choices available from existing homes to many new custom home builder properties for sale.

Aurora Colorado was founded in 1891 by Donald Fletcher who was originally from Chicago and named it Fletcher.  In 1907 the town renamed itself Aurora.  Aurora is a separate school district from Denver schools and the southern part of Aurora is in the Cherry Creek School District.  Many of the best Denver neighborhoods are located in Aurora offering every type of Denver real estate including condos, townhomes, houses, lofts, horse properties, starter homes and high end custom estate properties.  Most Denver home builders have suburban developments in Aurora as it continues to grow on the eastern edge of the Denver CO metro area.

Bailey Colorado  In 1864 William and Ann Bailey built a stage coach station and a hotel at the ranch they had settled, known as Bailey’s Ranch and eventually became the town of Bailey.  Choices of property types differ from Denver real estate types because of the small mountain town setting.  You won’t find any lofts and very few townhomes and condos, if any, but you will find Colorado real estate at its best regarding mountain rustic and contemporary architecture as well as horse properties for sale.  You will also find many custom home builders.  Winter weather is much more severe than Denver weather however the cost of living is somewhat lower than the Denver cost of living.  Bailey is located about 30 south west of the Denver CO metro area in foothills of the Rocky Mountains.

Bennett Colorado is believed to have been named after Hiram Pitt Bennet who was an early Denver postmaster.  Bennet has an agricultural based history and is located 25 miles east of the state capitol building in Denver CO.  The types of Colorado real estate found in Bennet are a small town center with houses, but few condos, townhomes or lofts.  There are many outlying horse properties, farms and horse ranch listings for sale. Berthoud Colorado real estate was first settled in the early 1860’s according to the town history and includes many farms and horse ranches.  The town itself is fairly small and is accessed from Fort Collins and Longmont by Highway 287.  Its climate is similar to Denver weather.  Berthoud is located about 30 minutes north of the Denver CO metro area.

Boulder Colorado  The first settlers in the area were gold prospectors who arrived in 1858 when Boulder was part of the Nebraska Territory.  At this point in time the boundary between Nebraska and Kansas territories is what is now Baseline Road.  In 1861 the Colorado Territory was established and in 1876 Colorado became a state.  Boulder is home to the University of Colorado and has a wide variety of historic single family homes as well as lofts, condos, houses and townhomes.  There are abundant recreational opportunities in and around boulder and many horse properties in the outlying areas near Boulder Valley Ranch.  Many high tech Denver relocation employees choose the Boulder area because it is home to many high tech companies.

Brighton Colorado real estate consists of the town of Brighton, a city in Adams County and outlying farm and ranch property in the northeast Denver metro area. The community straddles Adams and Weld counties and was named after Brighton Beach, New York.  It is a popular choice for Denver relocation buyers looking to get a new home at a very entry level price, due to the rapid development of open agricultural land into expanding Denver neighborhoods.  Recently the E470 beltway opened, connecting Brighton to the Denver International Airport DIA and the rest of the Denver metro area.  Many Denver home builders have home developments in the Brighton area mls.

Broomfield Colorado  Broomfield County is Colorado's newest county and was established in 1998. It encompasses parts of Boulder, Jefferson, Adams and Weld Counties.  Originally founded in 1877 as Zang's Spur it grew into the city of Broomfield and is one of only two City and County governments in Colorado, the other being the city and county of Denver.  Broomfield consists of many wonderful Denver neighborhoods and has a the same climate as Denver weather.  The cost of living is very similar to the Denver cost of living.
